| Girvan Cycle Race > Site Map > Local Information > Travel: Getting to Girvan Getting to Girvan is easy with the town being well-served by road, rail, sea and air connections. By road, Girvan is 420 miles from London and 110 miles from the M6 motorway at Carlisle. All routes from this direction offer a pleasant drive in the spectacular Ayrshire and Galloway countryside. From the North and East of Scotland, Girvan is only 50 miles beyond Glasgow. Girvan lies on the main Glasgow - Stranraer railway line with regular connections to the rest of mainland UK and Northern Ireland. The ports of Cairnryan and Stranraer, 25 and 30 miles South of Girvan, have regular ferry services operating to and from Coach travel to the town is via connecting services from Ayr, Stranraer and Glasgow. Car hire is available from several companies in Ayr, Prestwick, Stranraer and at Prestwick Airport.
