Our Race Officials
The Girvan Cycle Race is organised by Ian Sinclair assisted by an organising committee comprising Tommy Bruce, David Miller, Grant Sinclair, Hugh Sinclair, Sandra Sinclair and Richard Todd.
To run the event safely and efficiently requires a substantial number of race officials and helpers. Like most race organisers we rely heavily on a small army of skilled and enthusiastic volunteers without whom the race simply could not happen. We're very proud of our team, a large number of whom have been bringing their skills and enthusiasm to Girvan for many years.

Tales from the back of the fridge
The Girvan Cycle Race relies on a small army of over 70 volunteer race officials and helpers to run it efficiently. One of the newest recruits to our 'army' is Simon Brooke of Stewartry Wheelers who has thrown himself enthusiastically into routeing and de-routeing the course, marshalling, shifting crowd control barriers and the many other tasks for which members of the Technical Crew have responsibility.
After all his hard work over 2008 race weekend Simon still had enough energy left to write 'Girvan 2008: Tales from the back of the fridge'.
Simon's observations from his first Girvan in 2007 are also recommended reading and can be found at The Girvan: Diary of a Stage Race'.
Each article is an entertaining read that provides a rare insight into the work of the 'back room team' without whom the race really could not happen. Thanks Simon. |
